The short story isn’t a fiction just that the name had to change to protect the identity of the person and since I didn’t get first hand permission from the person. I had to use Florah, so no one gets offended. There is a lesson or two for you to learn from here…
At 22, Flora was just entering into what she calls ‘her dream’ when the unexpected happened. She got pregnant for her ‘celebrity boyfriend.’
If pregnancy was all to it she could have easily carried the pregnancy, deliver the child and move on. The story got worse as she alongside other ladies were carrying babies for the same man. So she joined the league of the ‘BABY MAMAs’.
As a chorister in the church, the shame was just too much; she was devastated, crushed and crumbled. The pain and stigma of seeing her name on the front covers of various Nigerian dailies as a ‘Baby Mama’ was too much humiliation especially for a ‘church girl’.
Having wept her eyes, she picked every pieces of her life and patched it together and moved on. She decided to leave that place where people have always known her to be. She embraced her mistakes and moved on. Today the one-time Baby Mama is now the ‘Mummy G.O’ of a church in Nigeria and she is into women ministry; mentoring so many young ladies.
For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will be sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the Ground. Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant
This is a biblical passage that gives so much hope to me. The NLT version says at the scent of water, it shall sprout again.
For those dreams that have been abandoned or that died here is the message, there is hope. You can dream again.
So many people have abandoned their dreams because of marriage, failures and the rest. Others have forgotten they had dreams because of their jobs. I t is easy to trade with those monthly bank alerts.
Marriage is not instituted to kill dreams, it’s meant to give it expressions; to help you get there better and faster. Your job ought to train you towards your dream. So it’s wrong to exchange your dreams for what you earn, I’ll tag it a costly exchange.
This article is for the awakening of minds, wake up and get focused. It’s not too late you can dream again. KFC is a dream a man entered into at his old age. It doesn’t matter what you have gone through, overcome it and pick up.
At the scent of the water; this scriptures you can dream again. You can still achieve that dream. That abandoned dream can still be achieved. You can work it out. EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
